The Red Tiger XL is the larger-format version of Pyzel's Red Tiger, a high-performance shortboard developed with John John Florence. It uses the same outline, rocker, and bottom contour as the standard Red Tiger, but with stock dimensions sized up for bigger or stockier surfers, or for surfers wanting to size down from a standard shortboard while keeping similar volume. The design features a flat rocker for early, consistent speed, a single-to-double concave blending into a double concave/deep vee through the tail, and a wide squash tail for lift, drive, and pop. A hip near the front fins creates a pivot point for tighter turns. It is built for medium-sized, slower, or weaker wave conditions, described by the manufacturer as working in 1 to 8 foot surf, and by a retailer as suited to 3-6 ft waves. It can be ridden as a thruster, quad, or five-fin setup.
