Fin Setup Twin, Quad
The Zambal is a fish-alternative shortboard designed by Ryan Lovelace, built wide and flat for high planing speed. It has a double concave bottom with a wide single-concave induction zone up front. The outline is asymmetrical: the toe side is wider, straighter, and flatter for skate-like speed, while the heel side is shorter, rounder, and more deeply concaved to hold in on rail during carves. It is designed to generate speed quickly and hold it while retaining quickness and looseness. It is offered as a pure twin fin or as a twin fin on the toe side paired with a quad on the heel side for added forgiveness. Boards should be oriented with the long side under the front (toe) foot regardless of stance, and the shape is noted to ride smaller than its stated dimensions. It is used by William Aliotti in average-to-good Indonesian surf as well as California and European summer conditions. Available stock sizes ranged from 5'5" to 6'1", with volumes from roughly 24.8L to 35L.
